The Movie Topic - Page 13 Empty Re: The Movie Topic

Alright, so I caught a bunch of movies over the break. Let's see...

Ghosts of Girlfriends Past - Alright, I only watched this cuz there was nothing on and I was too tired to do anything. Very formulaic & predictable. Matthew Mcconauhey (sp?) needs to cool it with the romantic comedies for a bit cuz it's getting tiresome. I love Jennifer Garner & Robert Forrester but eh, whatever.

The Blind Side - Cute! It's pretty much just like every other feel-good sports movie but yup, I liked it. I think Tim McGraw should act more, he's adorable and pretty good. Sandra Bullock was fantastic of course. I can't say if I think she really deserved the Oscar last year for it only because I didn't see many of the other nominees.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians; The Lightning Thief - This might sound funny, but I liked this movie except for the 3 lead actors. The effects were cool & the storyline was good but these teens (at least I think they are) were falling flat all over the place. Oh you know who was in it too? Adam, the Winchesters' half brother. Man, I don't like him in anything, lol!

Devil - My favorite of them all. Tight & suspenseful & thank goodness, it didn't have some stupid 'gotcha!' type ending. I think M. Night Shyamalan has very good ideas but fumbles a bit on the execution. So he should stick to stuff like this, having someone else direct the films. Of course, a very beautiful young man stole the show for me, lol! The actor, Logan Marshall-Green, is the one I was talking aout from Dark Blue.

Anyone else see anything?

Tangled in 3-D. It was really, really great, and I would never usually spend the extra buck for 3-D, but it was special time out with youngest girl so we went all out and bought popcorn and soda there and didn't bring the junk food in the purse thing and really went all out. So worth it, and I loved the whole thing from front to end.

Yes and usually matinee only as well. Going to the movies can get expensive. Yes, I probably would have too, but you know, doing the mom thing.

Oh yeah, did I ever talk about Tron: Legacy here? It was pretty cool. I'm glad I saw it in the theater although I must saw I wasn't too pleased with the 3D. I never even noticed it!

Anyway, I finally saw Coraline. Sorry, but WtF was everyone saying that movie was tops? I was having a hard time staying interested in it. Watching it in HD was cool cuz it was crystal clear but it really didn't do anything for me.

I also saw She's Out of My League. It was cute. Basically a romantic comedy from the guy's side. Jay Baruchel was adorable in it. As with almost all rom-coms, a bit far fetched, but I still liked it.

I also rented The Other Guys but have only seen the first half hour. But from what I saw, it's pretty funny.

Loved The Other Guys, Will Farrell is just so funny.

I watched The Expendibles, what a pile of crap. Dolph has gotten worse at acting. Mickie Rouke is a mess and well it was just stupid I know some of you like Jason Statham but the dude is more wooden than a forest.

Everyone says the same thing about that movie but I am still determined to see it... at some point, lol! I saw Easy A last night. It was good, pretty funny. Not as funny as I had hoped but still good. THe only thing is I don't see the events that happened in the movie happening at all in real life. Maybe in a middle school, but not high school. Whatever it was still enjoyable. Stanley Tucci & Patricia Clarkson were great as Emma Stone's parents.

I used to think that but I've seen her in enough stuff to think she can do it. It's the third in Christopher Nolan's Batman movies, so it'll be Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, etc.

Yup, pretty sure it's gonna be called The Dark Knight Rises. Cool title!

I saw a few movies recently. First up is Black Swan. It was good. Natalie Portman was fantastic as was Barbara Hershey. I'm sorry but Vincent Cassel has always given me the creeps. He played the role well but I just get an icky vibe from him all the time, lol! The only negative thing for me was the ending. It was a little, 'uh ok I guess that's the ending then'. I mean, I know why they did it that way & all but I don't know. I guess it's good cuz you can read several different ways & stuff.

Next up is Taken. Just got finished watching this one actually, lol! A bit predictable, but we all knew that from the get-go. My grave-robbing crush on Liam Neeson notwithstanding, I liked the movie. The action scenes were tense, the actors played their parts well & it moved along at a good pace (no dragging things along).

The other movie I watched I'll review on the other page since we were chatting about it on there.

Now Black Swan is interesting because so many either hate it or love it but I think I'll wait for the rental not my usual subject matter.

I'd like to see The King's Speech but it's probably gone by now from us I can sit through a whole 2 hours of anything at the moment.

Dame really wants to see that & everyone I know who has said it was really good but I don't feel like watching it, lol!

Black Swan, I feel the same. If someone hadn't brought it over, I wouldn't have seen it until it came out to rent. I also wanna see True Grit, might even go to the movies. Well, using my free tickets I mean, lol!

LMAO, Gerrard! Garrett, and no, haven't seen it. I'll probably rent it for $1 but yeah, looks totally predictable. Over here we call them Lifetime movies, cuz there's this channel called Lifetime that only plays woman empowerment type movies full of cliches, etc.
