Re: The Music Topic
Loved this song, The Power of Love - Frankie. I think this was 1984 UK Christmas no.1 I remember having the album for Christmas and being excited it was no.1, aaah.
Ronald Reagan was President, Mrs. Thatcher PM and Frankie scared the crap out of us all.

I have my 80's head on now.
Tears For Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The World. See the singer, Roland Orzibald's jumper? I had one just like that in the 80's.

LOL, in 1980 we all loved this song, my neighbough then who I still talk to on FB worshipped this band, they were his heroes.
Madness Baggy Trousers. Sorry this is quite British and probably boring but this was our schools in 1980, it was the end of the skin head/mod movement.
Some funnier ones.

House Of Fun
Sorry I bet you hate all of these.

Rick Astley ... I Rick Rolled You.
I don't know what the heavy breathing at the starts all about but Nick Kershaw - Wouldn't It Be Good.

Re: The Music Topic
I thought Adam Ant was cute when I was young. I looked for the Shaggy song on my music thingamajiggy too, and it wasn't there either. I did get some good Shaggy songs though.

Re: The Music Topic
Hmm... it's not that great a video (although Omarion is nice to look at) so here it is with just lyrics...
Re: The Music Topic
Really not my thing and I can't say I've heard of them before but what does "hipped to your steez" mean ?
I meant to add a video on here if I can find it.
You know that Adam Lambert video with the forest? It's unavailable now !

Re: The Music Topic
Oh okay. Yeah, i remember them too, but she was all into Omarrion, not the other guys, and nowhere near as much as the other group. Isn't his brother famous too? I would always get the two bands confused.

Re: The Music Topic
You mean Marques Houston? WHoa boy, he's hot as hell!! They're not actually related though.
I just watched the video for this song but Youtube doesn't it have it yet. I like the song, even though I read the critiques saying it's too much like their previous stuff. Whatever, I like it!

The songs off of the Songs About Jane album are sooooo played out here, this one and She Will Be Loved. Wonder when this album comes out...

Re: The Music Topic
So I was going to post a video on here but I'm caught between two video's of the same song.
One is a rough version from 2006 live and one is from Jools Holland Late Show, it's awesome but the performer makes mistakes, you might not notice it but you can tell he gets annoyed at the end.
I'm leaning towards the latter but you have to ignore the petty remarks from viewers beause Jeff Beck is one of the greatest guitar players in the world and he's managed to make the guitar into a voice.
Wanna see it, know who I'm whittering on about?

I ahve no idea I normally listen to them on the radio but that's about it. Not bad musicially just mmm, I keep getting them mixed up with Toploader and that video.
Re: The Music Topic
LOL, that's a cute song. When it first started palying it sounded like some intro to some 70s-80s TV show.
I won't post anymore Maroon 5 vids unless you want me to. The lead singer reminds me a little bit of Sylar.

Re: The Music Topic
Geoffrey Arnold "Jeff" Beck (born 24 June 1944) is an English rock guitarist. He is one of the three noted guitarists which include Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, to have played with The Yardbirds. He was ranked 14th in Rolling Stone Magazine's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time".
MSNBC has called Beck a "guitarist's guitarist" and Rolling Stone magazine has described him as "one of the most influential lead guitarists in rock".
Much of Beck's recorded output has been instrumental, with a focus on innovative sound and his releases have spanned genres ranging from blues-rock, heavy metal, jazz fusion and most recently, an additional blend of guitar-rock and electronica. Beck has earned wide critical praise; furthermore, he has received the Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance five times. Although he has had two hit albums (in 1975 and 1976) as a solo act, Beck has not been able to establish and maintain a broad following or the sustained commercial success of many of his collaborators and bandmates. Beck appears on albums by Roger Waters, Stevie Wonder, Les Paul, Zucchero, Cyndi Lauper, Brian May and ZZ Top. He also made a cameo appearance in the movie Twins (1988).
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 4 April 2009. The award was presented by Jimmy Page of Led Zep.
So Jeff, decided to try something new and tried to use the guitar to replace the human voice. Is it easy? My hubby who's been in bands and plays a Stratocaster will tell you what he's doing looks so easy but it is the hardest thing to try.
Jeff recorded a live version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" on Jools Holland, he's human he made a few mistakes and he was angry at himself but to us non playing I certainly think it's amazing the sound he reproduced.
The second video is another live version he did in 2006 before he cleaned it up but it shows a little more power as he was trying to make it sound bigger for the audience.

Re: The Music Topic
Aw, he was in Twins? What part? I love that movie. I couldn't really tell much whenever he messed up. It sounds cool & just from you explaining it, I can imagine how hard it would be to do. I wouldn't want to listen to a whole album of that but it's interesting!
