Re: The Random Ryan Thread
Aaawwhhhh... Poor Ryan hurt himself on the set of Green Lantern. They said it's being filmed in New Orleans, and he separated his shoulder. I wonder if he used Ronon's preferred method of snapping it back in place.

Re: The Random Ryan Thread
Yeah, my sister yesterday goes, "T, your man hurt himself on his movie." LOL, he'll be fine but you know if he needs a team of nurses or anything...
Re: The Random Ryan Thread
Ooh! made me think of a plot for a fic. Of course, it would be combining RP with characters, but I'm rushing to New Orleans to nurse Ryan back to health, and as I'm driving through a little backwoods part of Louisiana in the middle of the night, my car breaks down. I get out and look around, and the only lights I see are what appears to be a club or something down the road just a bit. Any ideas as to where I may be and what lights I'm seeing? Just let me say, that's about all the plot there is to the story.

Re: The Random Ryan Thread
I think this would belong in the Green Lantern page but we don't have one yet cuz technically it's not out yet (might change that the closer it gets) but here's a link to a short article with some pix form the movie. There's also one of Thor with Chris Hemsworth & Anthony Hopkins.

Re: The Random Ryan Thread
Great pictures, not very up on the Green Lantern story.
I really want to see Thor.

Re: The Random Ryan Thread
The only things I know about The Green Lantern are things I've read about this movie.
Anyway, did anyone catch the news that (brace yourselves) both Ryan Reynolds AND Bradley Cooper are gonna be in a movie together?!?!?! I'd be very surprised if that film doesn't do well in the 18-49 female demographic, lol!

Re: The Random Ryan Thread
At least it will be popular with us, whoo hoo is it too much to want to see some skin?
Has anyone seen the trailer for Buried Ryan's new movie? I saw the trailer but not sure if it's going to be a goodie or not.

Re: The Random Ryan Thread
Yeah. That's a crazy concept, will be interesting to see if they can pull off a featurte film on that. But hey, I wasn't too sure about Phone Booth & that movie rocked.
Re: The Random Ryan Thread
Yes it did and Colin Farrell was really good in it.
How does he get a signal though, especially a 3G they're always crap.

Re: The Random Ryan Thread
I've heard very good review for Ryan's forthcoming move Buried. Here's one that is from Film Shaft a good critic in my opinion. I have spoilered this in case Sam doesn't want to read it before she see's it.
- Spoiler:
This review should really come with a warning. I could suggest you read it after you’ve seen the film, but then, what’s the point in that? The major problem with Buried faced by a reviewer is what to discuss. The less you know, the better the experience and enjoyment (if that’s the right word). The idea is simple; perhaps, even daring. Whereas Alfred Hitchcock made a movie set in a boat (Lifeboat), Rodrigo Cortes made one set entirely within the confines of a wooden coffin.
From its Bernard Hermann pastiche score and Saul Bass-like graphics, Buried is highly derivative of the great master’s work. It is also as manipulative as a von Trier or Spielberg movie. With regards to tone, despite its lead character going nowhere, this is all over the shop.
Incredibly, despite being potentially nail-biting, there’s no real sense of suspense and tension. Indeed, the lack of movement and fixed point of the story does not allow for development of rhythm – internal or otherwise. It also battles with logic. On the claustrophobia scale it gets high marks. There are some brilliant stylistic devices and flourishes to enhance the feeling of being underground and constricted, but on the whole it doesn’t add up.
Paul Conroy is a truck driver in Iraq and definitely not a bad guy security guard working for Blackwater. He’s there simply to make some money – and never appreciates the irony of his statement. He’s a regular Joe helping with the reconstruction when he gets kidnapped during an ambush. And then…
… He wakes up in a coffin with a mobile phone and zippo lighter for company. The troubles he endures in realising his grim fate and the subsequent fights with bureaucrats is well-handled, and even manages some comedy.
Then it goes daft as a snake enters from a little crack in the wooden panelling, and for no reason other than something needs to fill the running time. It’s a poor stab at suspense and could be there for a bit of ironic symbolism. Who knows.
As Cortes’ film reaches its climax only then does a palpable tension present itself. Just how the fuck is Paul going to get out of this? In the haywire flux of communication and realisation, Paul and the authorities know that time is running out and fast. The film must be commended for its unflinching and brutal anti-Hollywood ending.
Ryan Reynolds, all alone, does well and makes you root for Paul, even when it becomes very obvious his future isn’t looking good. In fact, it makes the final scene ever so poignant.
We’re treated to some glib comments on the war – it’s as if the film-makers couldn’t help themselves! We the public do not need a sermon or a lecture, thank you very much.
Buried is a good exercise in film aesthetics and only really cheats dimensions and framing. Not once does it cut to anywhere outside the coffin. Hitchcock would have enjoyed such a fiendish tale, but even he, you sense, would have given Paul a last minute reprieve.
Rodrigo Cortes’ movie is designed for a cinematic experience and the effect will no doubt lessen on DVD and on a smaller screen. It’s patchy and uneven, but worthwhile for a good lead performance and a real punch-in the-stomach ending.

Re: The Random Ryan Thread
Well I don't know if you read reviews about films or not.
Both hubby and I think it looks interesting.

Re: The Random Ryan Thread
See now if I had read that I would have been really disappointed because the twist is what made the story so good. I hope you watch it one day as it is a great film and not preachy like you may think.
Re: The Random Ryan Thread
If it's on TV, I'll try to catch it. Well I got Showtime for a year so let's hope it shows up on there soon.
Re: The Random Ryan Thread
Now I was expecting to find Sam had posted that Ryan had made it as hottie no. 1 on some list, sorry I didn't read it.
I think he's really hot but there are better looking guys out there and I doubt any of them saw the list.
