Very gritty, she plays a really good Detective.

A friend of mine born in California told me it was pretty accurate show. More in the vain of Hill Street Blues (I adored that show) than anything modern.

Chicago Musician Common Cast in AMC Pilot

Chicago hip-hop artist and actor Common has been cast in one of the lead roles in a pilot for the hot cable network AMC.

Common will star as a half-black, half-white freed slave in "Hell on Wheels," a show about the building of the Transcontinental Railroad in the 1860s.

The role of Elam is Common's first leading role on television, according to AMC's press release. The two-time Grammy winner has also had roles in the films "Just Wright," "Date Night," "Terminator Salvation" and "Smokin' Aces."

The pilot will be shot in Alberta, Canada, next month.

The release from AMC is below.

New York – July 27 2010 – Rapper-turned-actor, Common, has been cast in one of the lead roles in AMC's newest pilot, Hell on Wheels. Hell on Wheels is a contemporary western that centers on the building of the Transcontinental Railroad. The musician/actor most recently starred in the 2010 movie Just Wright, playing a basketball player who falls in love with his trainer, Queen Latifah. He also appeared in the hit comedy Date Night with Steve Carell and Tina Fey.

Common is a two-time Grammy-winner. Hell on Wheels marks Common's first leading role on television.

“Common brings a layered intensity to a very complex role,” said Joel Stillerman, Senior Vice President of Programming, Production and Digital Content. “This part required someone who can transcend the stereotypes of the period and bring the character to life in a truly unique way, and he brings that. We are thrilled to have him join our cast."

Common will take on the role of Elam, a freed slave who comes west seeking work on the railroad and his place in the world. As a half black, half white man he does not completely belong to either world

In 2007, Common appeared with Ryan Reynolds, Jeremy Piven, and Alicia Keys in the crime film Smokin' Aces. He made his big screen debut as villainous Mob enforcer Sir Ivy. He appeared alongside Denzel Washington, Russell Crowe, The RZA and T.I. in the 2007 crime thriller American Gangster. In 2008, he starred in the film adaptation of the comic book Wanted alongside Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie; and was cast as the Green Lantern/John Stewart in the live adaptaton of The Justice League. Common also appeared in the movie Street Kings alongside Keanu Reeves, Hugh Laurie, The Game, and Forest Whitaker. He also appeared in the 2009 film Terminator Salvation as John Connor's lieutenant Barnes.

Hell on Wheels was created and written by Joe and Tony Gayton (Faster/Uncommon Valor/Salton Sea /Bulletproof) who will also executive produce. The project was developed by Endemol USA. Jeremy Gold, Endemol’s SVP of Scripted Programming will executive produce. David Goldberg is Chairman of Endemol North America. E1 Television CEO John Morayniss and SVP creative affairs Michael Rosenberg will oversee production. David Von Ancken (Seraphim Falls/Californication) has signed on to direct the pilot and production is scheduled to begin in Alberta, Canada this August.

So watched the second episode of Generation Kill. It's very good, it's HBO so I expect a decent show and have it. Alex Starsgard is very good of course he stands head and shoulders above everyone but he's sexy as a Marine. Waiting for the shower scene, ssshhh, don't tell hubby.

So, I watch White Collar, it's as you've guessed about White Collar crime or fraud/embezzelment etc.

I like Matt Bomer, he's good looking but he's too wirey, skinny so I keep changing my mind. He's nice to look at anyway.

Here's a video explaining the show.

Generation Kill was made from a book by a journalist embedded with a Marine core as they invaded Iraq (second time).

I'll post a few video's here's one to get to know Alexander Starsgard's character.

More Generation Kill, I'll make sure Eric, sorry Alex is in all the episodes. Still looking for that shower scene.

I watched this episode tonight, the scene is amazing especially as you realise that this really happened. The show is not fiction but reality and based on the real Marines who fought it. The show was filmed in South Africa, if you like Black Hawk Down etc you'll love this show.

LOL, at least my mom took me to Nascar!

I don't think Eric would sing!

No he did this in 2008, they've finished filming season 3 of True Blood but Alex is filming a remake of Straw Dogs and I was surprised at who he's playing.

I found second season no problem, but I'm having a harder time finding first season because they've been blocking. I'm sure because the 1st season has come out on DVD, and I don't blame them for trying to make the bucks, but I have no bucks to spend. I don't want to start at the 2nd season though. I have not given up hope though.
