Re: The Movie Topic
Did you see that girl from Mean Girls & True Blood season 1 was in Cloverfield? I really liked the way they marketed the movie too.
So I sat down with my sister the other day and watched Aliens with her (she'd never seen it before in its entirety). No big question about if I liked or not, but it got me all nostalgic thinking. So here's some trailers for movies that are some of my (meaning you or the general public might hate them but I love them for varying reasons) most cherished:

Just a couple more and then I swear, I'm done...
What are some of your favorite movies?

Re: The Movie Topic
I actually like all of those movies except Speed and LA Confidential.
What is so funny is the other day when i was trying to come up with who could represent me in 'the house' I was actually thinking about a zombie from Dawn of the Dead but thought ya'll might not remember her. My kids are always comparing her to me when I lose my temper. The old woman who starts off sick and then she dies, and she's just laying there, and all of a sudden she pops up real fast and movies like a bat out of hell. I tried to find her in the clips when I was watching the trailer, but I couldn't find her. I'm real laid back, and I don't move real quick, but if you piss me off, BAM!! I guess my zombie comes out.

Okay, that's a compilation of other movies, but he's still hot, and i think it might be a good movie, and I'm stoked because I just saw Hell Boy in his finest with his horns fully grown out. Mmmm, I love how he looks in that scene.

For all the Chris Evans gals, here's a link to a short article of him discussing his new Captain America costume along with some concept art.

Re: The Movie Topic
Actually looks pretty good they haven't made the costume too effeminate. I'd like to have seen Jensen in that role but will definitely watch it.
Have they started shooting yet?

Re: The Movie Topic
I don't think so, but not sure. Last thing I heard about it was that Tommy Lee Jones had been cast.
Re: The Movie Topic
I thought we were all learning to appreciate Chris Evans thanks to all your lovely pics and avis. I was pretty sure he was lead in our 5th.

Re: The Movie Topic
So I was scanning Film Shaft (great website) for upcoming movies and I do like Dracula movies.
Here's a bit about a movie due to go into production soon.
The vampire craze continues with news, via Bloody Disgusting, that Oscar-winning director Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters, Anatomy, All The Queen’s Men) is bringing The Last Voyage of the Demeter, to the screen. The film, written by Bragi Schut (Season of the Witch), details the journey of the Demeter ship which carried a cofffin and Count Dracula on board…only one person survived. Well, two people if you “count” Dracula.
For those not au fait with the Dracula novel, the Demeter carries the undead aristocrat from the sea port of Varna and turns up on Whitby’s shores on a stormy night, a ghost ship. The captain’s log reveals the strange journey and how the crew knew something terrible was going down. This could be an atmospheric horror and gory horror movie. And for those who love a bit of irony, Demeter was also the goddess of fertility and harvests…the only thing reaped on the Demeter’s journey is death and lots of blood.
Schut wrote the screenplay back in the 1990s and what with everybody going gaga for vampirism, this looks like a nice spin on a segment of Dracula’s journey to England. If this comes off, it could be, potentially, pretty amazing. German director Marcus Nispel was attached but it looks like Ruzowitzky is steering the production towards the screen. Phoenix Pictures are backing the film.
It was also announced last month that Sam Worthington was being lined up to star in Alex Proyas’ Dracula: Year Zero for Universal. There’s also the action flick, Vlad, to look forward to. Dracula has well and truly returned.
Here's the bit about Sam Worthington.
This is officially the hottest news of the day: Aussie actor Sam Worthington is being lined up to star in Universal’s revamp (couldn’t help it!) of Dracula. Funny that they’re releasing The Wolfman in three weeks and this news lands. Variety are reporting this project is gearing up pronto. Titled Dracula Year Zero it already has a director attached in Alex Proyas (excellent choice!) and the script comes courtsey of Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (should that be Fangless?).
It is reported Worthington is “in negotiations” to take lead role that takes a look at the origins of the Prince Vlad and promises a “dark love story”. So like Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula prologue, but longer. With Proyas on board, this could be amazing. Worthington is fast becoming the biggest star on the planet. He’s played an android, an alien, Perseus, so why not a medieval vampire? Man’s got range, no? He’ll definitely need vocal lessons…how many times did he accent slip in Avatar and Terminator Salvation? Answer: a lot. We can’t have Dracula talking like an Aussie…the country wasn’t even discovered by Europeans then, let alone colonised!
With two of Universal’s most famous monsters getting an outing, will the same be said for The Invisible Man and Frankenstein? Now there’s a thought!

Re: The Movie Topic
I mentioned before the awesome film Black Hawk Down based on the book depicting the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia and the Somli War Lord in 1993, while some things are shall we say artist licence the basis is real. When I checked for the date of the battle I did find this little foot note.
The film ends with text informing the viewer that "1000 Somalis died and 19 Americans lost their lives in the conflict (the 19 soldiers and officers who died are then listed by name and rank). Mike Durant was released after 11 days of captivity. On August 2, 1995, warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid was killed in Mogadishu. General Garrison retired the following day."
